Spliced joints fuse sponge together to form a rubber-tearing bond, which means the splice is stronger than the material. Our craftsmanship makes it nearly impossible to detect splices. Rolls can be supplied with a wide range of pressure sensitive adhesives on one surface.
American National Rubber was the first to produce continuous closed cell sponge using splice joints to achieve a 50 foot length. Our new technologically innovative equipment can now produce a 400 foot roll, depending on the thickness. This product has the following advantages over extruded rolls:
- Our rolls have excellent dimensional stability, while extruded roll stock normally experiences shrinkage.
- The split surface of roll stock readily accepts adhesives. Extruded roll stock has a skin that is often coated with a release agent causing adhesion problems.
- Our state-of-the-art equipment can split to precise thickness tolerances.
